Mechanic's Please Help!?!

I need help, one last time before the truck finally goes on the road.
Its a problem with the blinkers.
I replaced the bulbs, noticed it didnt do anything, then replaced both of the tail lights themselves.
That didnt work, then I noticed something wierd...
When I flip the switch inside the truck to turn the blinkers on, The arrows on the dash dont come on.
The front signals dont work either. Fuses are good from what I seen and all the lights inside the truck work except the turn signals, any suggestions?

The fuse should be #5 (20 amps) and it gets its power from the switch. Do you have power at the fuse?(remember the key must be on) Next in line is the flasher. Do you have power at the flasher? Next is the turn signal switch. I think you will find the problem is before the turn signal switch.

Fuse is good, how to I check the flasher and turn signal switch? And are those the only options that it isnt working? or are there any other problems that could cause this? Im heading out to work on the truck right now Ill be back in soon to check what you said. Thanks a bunch!

Do you have a meter or test light? Do you have power at the fuse?(remember the key must be on) Next in line is the flasher. Do you have power at the flasher?

Do your 4 way flashers work?

PowerRam88 Nov 9, 2010 11:45 AM

Yeah the 4 ways work, I dont have a tester though. Im going to head to autozone and buy one soon. Fuse is good but do I need the tester to check if there is power?

its 263.00 at autozone online, is there any cheaper way to test the wires?

befitz Nov 9, 2010 11:53 AM

Autozone sells a test-light for about $10.

PowerRam88 Nov 9, 2010 12:16 PM

Alright and I just test all the wires that go to the switch and fise?

SEAL Nov 9, 2010 12:48 PM

Make a test light, it is free. If you have an extra bulb just solder two 3-4 foot wires on it. One to the bottom contact and the other to the side of the bulb. Or use one of the extra sockets that you replaced. Ground one wire and touch the other to whatever you want to test for voltage. If the light lights up you have voltage.

Wow thats really helpful thanks! Ill let you know wether or not the fuse is getting voltage but im guessing it is sence the hazards work. If its the switch do I just replace the wires that run from the switch? I hate how wiring is so complicated lol.
