Default Air pump

I'm looking to get rid of the what I can only assume is the air injection pump on my 89 d100. Is there anything in the vin that says that it should be present? Because the pulley is making a god awful noise and id rather remove it than buy a new one if I can help it

the previous owner on my 86 just took the belt off it and left it to free wheel. im happy with it like that. it just spins with the air thats pulled by the fan. i tell people that its electric when they see it spinning.
