RFA: I don't know what level of experience you have with transmissions so trying to explain how to adjust both bands may not be possible without pictures. I would suggest you go to your public library and look the adjustment of 727 bands up and photo copy it. This will be the cheapest way for you. It is not hard but must be done correctly. You will need an inch/pound torque wrench but everything else is normal hand tools. This does require removal of the pan and filter but shouldn't cost more than the price of a filter and fluid.

RFA: Does the truck move in manual 1 or reverse at any temperature or have you only tried in drive? The A727 uses no bands in breakaway low (D) so adjusting the bands will have no effect if the truck does not move in that gear. I suspect that as the fluid warms up it gets thinner and this allows it to leak past worn out and dry old rubber seals and sealing rings in the clutch packs or on the way to the clutch packs and therefore the tranny requires a rebuild.
