Center Link 74 D100
How can you tell if your center link is bad or needs to be replaced? I am replacing all of the tie rods, ball joints etc and can't tell if my link is bad. I hope to save the $100 bucks. Thanks
Use a large pair of channel lock pliers. One jaw on top of the ball socket and the other under the tapered stud. If there is excess movement, in the ball and socket, as you apply and release pressure the link ends need replacement. There can be very slight movement in even a new end but once you try this on a new end and a bad end you will quickly be able to tell what I mean by excessive play. This works on tie rods also.
