Default Steering Box Problems

Hi, I have an 89' W350 with steering problems. I have broken one of the mounting tabs on the steering box and also cracked the mounting bracket between the frame and box. The mounting bracket also spaces the steering box away from the frame. Is this an aftermarket piece or is it necessary for the steering box? Does anyone else have this bracket? I thought about boxing my frame, looking for other ideas and parts to help my problem. I think because the bracket was flexing it caused the steering box to crack. I found a bracket to reinforce the frame on the inside (link below).

The steering box will have to be replaced. I would suggest a junk yard one because you do not have a returnable core and that will make a rebuilt one very expensive. The steel bracket can be welded back to original strength and even reenforced if you would like.

Does anyone know what is the gear ratio for a standard steering box on an 89' W350?
