I understand your confusion and frustration after being there myself and that is why I am here trying to help others. The air gap usually doesn't change unless the distributor is beat around while off the engine. Use the same meter and check the resistance in the ECU wiring connector from socket 5 to socket 4. It should be close to the same as that of the pick-up coil but includes testing of the wiring between the two. Check the continuity to ground at each of the pick-up coil leads. There should not be any continuity (reading of zero).

I will give that a shot when I get home, also trying a better meter then the Harbor Freight special I have.

I will update on my progress!!
