Default HELP!!! flywheel not fitting into bellhousing

So I'm doing a 318 to 360 swap on my 81 power ram, and finally got all the parts i needed yesterday. I put my new flywheel and clutch on and went to put the engine back in the truck and i cant get the engine to attach to the tranny. I remember the old flywheel just barely fir out and now the new one doesn't seem to fit into the bell housing. I know its the right flywheel but I'm having problems getting it in there while having the input shaft lined up and everything else.
Anyone have experience with this and can help me out? Its a 4 speed with granny low tranny
Thanks

I did this swap with my '81 150. The flywheel on a 360 is slightly bigger then a 318, I can't remember by how many teeth though. I had to get a MoPar performance flywheel, its the 318 size, but balanced for a 360, and it fit the 318 bellhousing perfect. I tried getting a 360 bell, but the mounting bolt patern for the tranny was always wrong, not sure why the trannies would have different bolt patterns, but they do.

Is your new flywheel a 360 flywheel ?
Is the diameter the same ?
If so it should fit. Did you get the clutch centered?
Try putting the trans in gear so the input shaft won't turn and turn the motor to line up the splines on the input shaft and clutch.
Sometimes it takes awhile to get it lined up just right then just kind'a falls in place.
Good luck !
