As the title says I'm looking at a 1989 D150. This will be my 3rd 1st gen but it will be the first that wasn't a beater. What kind of things should I look for? I know the roofs have a tendancy to rust through near the windshield but what other common problems did they have? thanks in advance. Jim

 

I haven't seen a lot of roof problems. The majority of the problems are engine control system problems that can be aggravating but are usually minor. The RWAL brake system is absolutely useless and the trucks power is not as high as I think it should be with a 318. Other than those things mine has been a great truck.
