I no longer have 3rd gear...
well, it seems i may have found whats listed as a 727/904...price is so right too. On craigslist...if he still has it, and its a 904, AND he would swear on his mothers grave that it works, i'll get it. can i use a 727 (if thats what it is) with a 318?
funny, this is the second chrysler trans that has **** the bed on me. first one was in a cordoba...went perma-neutral on me out of the blue...which is baffling to me as i always heard they were built to last...

727s were made differently to fit all of the Chrysler engines. You will need to find out what engine it fits. Measure the top two bolt holes on the bell housing that bolt the tranny to the engine. Small block is 7-3/4" and big block is 6-7/16" apart. Your drive shaft may not work with the 727.
The 727 was almost bullet proof except for driver neglect, driver abuse, or a weak case that shows up usually when someones tries to rock a stuck vehicle. I have been driving Chryslers for over 46 years and have yet to have a tranny die on me.
