I have a 1992 4x4 w 150 and last summer I was running it kinda hard and the whole truck started shaking I thought my tires were messed up but it ended up being the fuel pump going out. that was my early warning that i missed. I ordered a new one from RockAuto.com for $120.00 and that cured the problem with the shaking. Steve

I didn't think that would do it either until I got stranded. Haven't had anymore issues with shaking I guess the engine was just misfiring from lack of fuel on mine. I was showing the same symptoms as you're describing maybe put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and see what you come up with.

Question

i dont think that is my problem, cause mine shakes/vibrates pretty dam bad, especially @65.
i have a long shot here, but if this dealer that is checking it out tomarrow does not come up with any thing.
does anyone know how to tell if an upper control arm is bent?? symptoms?? i thought about when i was taking the old ball joints out, they were so tight that i had a 5ft. pipe on the end of breaker bar + heat and pb blaster. is it possible that one or both may have twisted a little??
i know they go back in at 185ft.lbs. that is tight(they screw in the uppers) is there a way they can see if they are bent/twisted when doing an alignment?? i really would just change them uppers and lowers myself but cant cause of my surgery. i just dont know what to change already!! any help is appericiated, thank you

well i just called the 2nd dodge dealer that my truck has been to. they siad they were trying to isolate the shake/vibration,but nothing yet. they said with all the new parts on it,its being difficult. the service guy told me the tech. working on it asked for another tech. to help him with it.
i said i would give them a call tomarrow about noon to see if they come up with the problem yet. omg!! if i didnt have my disk surgery,i would have figured this out by now! been doing lots of research about the symptoms of everything,i may have narrowed it down to two things.
i hope they find the problem, cause i just want it fixed already.is that too much to ask??

pull the inspection plate and look as closely as possible at the coverter and flex plate that you can. I had a similar deal years ago on a 76 Ramcharger. Turned out to be one the pads (where you bolt it to the flexplate) on the converter came off (bad factory weld assumably?) A mechanic friend said he had seen that (and cracked flex plates) before... usually after a vehicle was driven for some time with bad u-joints or other issues that would transmit vibration through the drive train.

ok here it is,called the 2nd dodge dealer that my truck was at: goes like this: he said driveshaft bowed/bent.factory one is no longer avalible.
i said how could this be i just had new u joints installed and shaft balanced at a driveshaft shop,i called the driveshaft shop they said this cant be,if it was bent/bowed we would have not balanced it.
so i told the dealeer to also check the axle run out(its all good)
i said how do you know its bowed/bent,they said you could see it.
i took a ride up to the dealer to see it,i had to wait until they got it up on the lift, they put the rear wheels off the lift, and had it running with the rear wheels turning just at idle in gear, saw the driveshaft it had a good bounce to it. no need even to put a dial indicator on it,the tech. said its off more than a few thousands. i could not believe it myself. they are sending the shaft out to get a new one made, all the rest of the truck is 100%,thats what they said,it should be by now dont you think??
maybe get it back by end of next week, they are fixing an a/c issue also
thank you for all the help

Good deal! Sounds like your finally getting to the bottom of both issues. Hopefully, this is the end of it.
