I ordered McBay coil spring spacers today. I will start a thread when I get them installed. The Rack you made turned out great.

Thanks again Matt. I just received my Christmas gift to myself. I ordered a nerf step bar from DeeZee D373700291 from Pit Stop Auto Parts. I didn't know anyone still made any for our trucks. It's 64" long black powder coat and matches the light bar. They look real nice - I can't wait to put them on. Pit Stop has free shipping and uses Fedex so it got here real fast.http://www.pitstopautoparts.com/sear...=Dodge&md=D150

Very nice rig! Did you have alignment issues with the new coils? How much were the springs themselves? Why did you choose the Add-A-Leaf route as opposed to blocking the back? Did you origonal sway bar end links, strut rod brace from the lower control arm, and lower ball joint, all go back together as planned? Just trying to pick you brain lol

Any time you do a lift you will have to do a front end alignment. Was there any problems in trying to get it aligned - then no. If I remember correctly, the coil springs were like $250. Strut braces were a bear to get back in the control arms but if I had loosened it where it attached to the frame then it may have been easier. I have seen where someone else rigged up a spacer for where the strut rod attached to the lower control arm. I just used some elbow grease. I re-used the sway bar, endlinks and brackets. Once again, I have heard of others using a spacer under the frame bracket but it's not needed. No ball joint problems.

I had used some add-a-leafs before and liked them. Easy install but you will need longer u-bolts. Not supposed to re-use them anyways. I figured that a lot of guys are trying to eliminate the rear blocks and go all spring and this was one option. Helped to recurve the springs and way cheaper than a new set of lifted leaf springs. Lastly, it helps to eliminate some of the sag with a load in back. I guess a cheaper alternative for lift only would be the spacer blocks and coil spring spacers but I wanted some function with the looks as well.

Photobucket is great for hosting pictures. You can upload them to PB then use the links they provide to either direct to PB to view the pictures or make them appear in a post. The latter is what I do. You will usually have to shrink them a little.

Thanks for the interest. I can't believe how fun this project has been. I've taken this truck in some unbelieveable places. I run some Cooper Discovery M/T 33's on 15x8 ProComp Rock Crawlers.

Since the original post, I've installed a PowerTrax locker and really like it and a 3" body lift. Some people say it's a waste of time to lift a 2x but I really like the way it looks and performs. I get lookie lou's all the time and thumbs up when I'm driving. Good enough for me. Here's some current pics of my last outing.

It looks incredible. By stance it looks like a 4x4. How did you deal with the steering shaft? And dose it handle poorly now? Sorry to keep asking question, but if you don't ask you don't know.

Thanks, I put in the Borgeson steering shaft. It's a telescoping shaft so it lengthens for the body lift. Feels better than the stock one. Just took a trip to see a friend of mine in Dallas to pick up a 91 TBI 318 with wiring harness, computer, magnum exhaust manifolds, radiator, shroud and all the accessories to include AC. The fun never ends...
