That is the same thing I thought, but the battery slowly goes down when its off. I am going to top off the battery cell tonight and see what happens.

Then you have a draw on the battery...do you have any lights, accessories, radio's, etc left on?

i agree. there has to be something draining your battery after you shut your truck off. i would maybe look at that voltage regulator that is bolted to the alternator. it is wired straight to power. there is a reason it is hooked to ignition power from the factory.

I ended up buying a regular voltage reg and the pig tail and switching to that. I do not have any other wires going to the alt except the power wire, and that goes straight to the battery. Volt gauge has never worked since Ive owned it. I just went back out rechecked it, it seems to be holding at 12.30/31 while off. All of my accessories are off also.

if you continue to have the battery drain you should hook the voltage regulator up to ignition power. it is not a voltage gauge in your truck. it is an amp which is kind of better.

Sounds like current is flowing when the key is off(a short). I would start by hooking up a meter or test light to monitor that current flow. Start pulling 1 fuse at a time until the draw on the battery stops. This will isolate what system is the problem. Some radios/stereos have a constant draw for the clock so the drop will have to be significant for that system.

mjm1988 just had the same problem.

Here is how to check for shorts.

It is definitely a draw somewhere. There is fire when pulling the positive cable off and on the battery. The battery holds when the positive is off, and drains when on. Hopefully I will have time after work tomorrow to look, work is taking over right now. I did unplug the radio today and it still draws, and have the dome/cargo light bulbs out.

Ill start pulling the fuses tomorrow.. hopefuly. That way seems a lot easier then how I have been doing it.
