Default rebuildin my 318...suprsies inside

i had to post this..just to show the reliability of a 318

now this truck ran and drive perfect started good..didnt miss or backfire...had some upper end noise but not bad..and .025 of crank play..

now ive torn it down...have found 7 bad lifters, 8 bent pushrods..they wont even roll on flat surface..numous missing bolts, all 6 freeze plus on the side was about to bust through...

this is my first la 318 (75 casting)..and will not be my last

and heres a pic of my color combo i went with..duplicolor chrysler blue and semi gloss black...the blue is lighter then pictured.....also putting a summit cam, headers, msd coil, edlebrock intake and holley 600 carb on it...and trans is getting a shift kit...mabe a 50-75 shot of spray? lol

The 318 is definitely the black sheep of small block mopars, but I'd still rather have a 318 over big brother 360 any day. They're built to take a beating.

As I have stated before the 318 and our trucks were built for longevity and that is why they were designed to be underpowered. They were not as wanted at the time because they weren't sexy. This fact kept them from selling in the numbers of the other trucks of their time. This was a good thing and a bad thing depending on your point of view.

It should be a good thing in another 5-10 years.
