I have heard nothing but complaints and horror stories about the B&M shift kits. I have a transgo kit in mine and am very happy with it. (my 2 cents)

I've been have issues with 96 Ram 1500 5.9 transmission not shifting. Changed fluid, governor selonoid, pressure selonoid, filter. Ran well for about 20 miles. then started to slip again. Running at 3500-4000 RPM's tranny still in 1st gear and 25-30 MPH. never shifted. Doese anyone think a shift kit could correct this problem.

All of the shift kits will tell you they are intended for installation in a properly functioning transmission. You can contact the individual companies. You might get more specific advise on your 2nd Gen truck at:

My shift kit is a nice sized dent in my transmission pan. Not intended, but it always grabs good. Sometimes a little shockingly well.
