Default 360 TB on a 318

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen a lot of people online agree that a 360 throttle body has larger bores than a 318, and higher-flow injectors. Assuming that's true, could you not swap a 360 TB onto a 318 for some performance gains? I guess if you had to you could put the 360 intake on as well, maybe even the computer if it was needed.

The engine management system is a system. It all works together as designed. Adding fuel to any engine without changing the engines ability to use that fuel will result in problems. Car companies are like any other company. They do not throw money away intentionally. If the 360 throttle body would give more power from the 318 we would have one on our 318's if for no other reason but to save the company money. IMHO

from what i see on rock auto it looks like both 318 and 360 may have the same throttle body.

I've heard a) they're identical in every way, b) the throttle bodies are the same but the 360 injectors are bigger, c) the bores in the 360 TB are bigger, and d) bores and injectors are bigger on the 360. I'm thinking the only way I may know for sure is to go to the junkyard with my caliper and see if any of the 360 TBI trucks are still there, and measure one, then compare it to mine.

For me personally, if it was bigger I'd probably stay away from it anyway, because I'm after gas mileage, not more power. But there's always someone out there trying to get a little more out of their TBI'd 318.
