Question A518 adaptability output shafts ?

Swapping 91 W250, 318, 241D transfer case, from manual trans to automatic. For this 4x4 application does the A518, transmission have to be from a 4X4? I have access to a great buy on a fresh 2wd A518, from a D250 2WD. It looks like to output shaft is about the last piece to come out of the transmission when disassembling it?

You are correct. The output shaft assembly is the last assembly to come out when the tranny is disassembled and it comes out the front. The good thing about the torqueflite tranny is that it requires very few special tools unlike many other modern trannys.
