Default 87 W150 Worth,bed question

Hey Guy's I'mnew to the forum and thought this place looked great for the sort of questions I have! My son and I are looking at a 87 W150 Short Bed auto 4x4 the truck has a 318 v8 and Tf 3spd auto. It also has tilt power windows, locks and air. The tuck has 137k on the OD. I looked at the truck and found it to be remarkably rust free for the Noth Eastern part of the Country! The area of concern is over the wheel well but the seller has it covered with patch panels so we can repair them. (he never had the time to do it) Anyway the only other issue I could see is the bed looked as if where it meets the cam is tilted downward a bit, almost as if the mounts were bad or?? I think with a bit of Body work and a paint job this truck can be nice for a young kid! Anyway any ides whats up with the bed and whats a truck like this worth??
Thanks

The bed is a solid metal to metal fit. I would figure this out before any money changes hands. Rust thru where the bed meets the front and side or a bent frame is possible. I can't help you with the price. Last time I looked to buy one was 1991 when I bought mine.

So there are no Mount's on this bed? It seems as though something's not right here?? Whene you say metal to metal do you mean that the bed actuallysit's on top of the frame?

pretty much. the bed bolts to the frame. if it looks like the back of the cab has dropped it may be possible that the rear cab mount may be rotten and causing the back of the can to sink. if the cab mounts are rotten then you may need quite a few tools to fix it. just because it looks beautiful on the outside does not mean anything. it could be pretty rotten underneath. you should slide underneath and poke around. rotten metal can get expensive to replace.

I am aware of what rust is and what it can do thanks.
Just restored a 69 Firebird which was very badly rotted in fact the ssubframe was even gone on this thing! Being of sentimental value I saveed it but promised myself I woul ! I think that the cab is fine it appears as if the guy took the bed off an maybe forgot the washers? Not sure? The thing looks very nice from undernieth in every place including the areas of concern. Is it possible that wear the bed meet's the frame things could be mushy? If it is there sure is no sgn of the problem unber it what so ever!

if there is not signs of rot then it is possible that it could need to be shimmed.

Can you see what behind the patches? Mine was patched, but it only hid more rust. Around here, a truck with minor rust issues, medium low miles, and 4x4 is going to run between $1500 to about $3500 if its only a little rust. You can't buy 4x4 for cheap here, but even if its almost rust free, nobody around here really wants a truck that old anymore.
