i will be pulling out the heater core/ac evap before it get to hot here.
anyone ever do this?? about how intence to get the whole unit out??
i have been doing some looking for the cores,seems that some ac evaps dont fit proper. has anyone ran into this?? if so which brand of ac evap fits well?? thank you

 

I just replaced the heater core on mine but I didn't replace the evap. The bad/expensive part is the removal/recharging of the freon. Is it R-12 still? I don't know anything about the evaps not fitting if you get the right part.

It is really not that hard. Disconnect the water hoses, vacuum lines, and remove the blower motor. Remove some dash supports and the whole box comes out. Then you remove the control stuff on top and then the top cover. You will need some gasket tape for reassembly.

 

thanks seal, well this past summer i replaced the compressor,condensor,drier,expansion valve,and one hose.
it all was converted to r134a. towards the end of summer the new compressor started to leak at the back gasket,and the electronic clutch cycling switch is no longer available from any dealer or after market.
if i have to get it all evacuated out and recharged i should just put in a new evap core for piece of mind,that once i repair it all its a once and done deal. thank you
