leaky leak
A couple of things - You may void your header warranty by wrapping them. You can trap moisture right against the headers and cause them to rust out, especially if you do short trips.
And the second thing concerns emissions - it is NOT legal in ANY state to modify the emissions equipment from that which came from the factory. It carries a $10,000 fine if you happen to get caught. Many states, and most cities don't bother checking, so people get away with it all the time, but that does not make it legal.

I feel that what kind of exhaust you put under your ride is your buisiness, and besides, the only one who is going to get fined are the muffler shops etc... who do the work. If you do it yourself, there is no law about anything but running open headers. R.V.
i know wrapping my hedders may cause them to rust, but i dont have a warranty, ther were really cheap hedders, and there is a spray on sealant you can have put on over the wrap, i just dont remember where i saw it. I just put high temp paint over mine, it is good enough for me.
With the emissions... well... who needs em is all i got to say. I am in an area of the country where i cant throw a rock and even hit my neighbors yard, the town i live in is maybe 1000 people and i dont think smog is gonna be a problem any time soon
Hey there,Dodge 4 Life,
I hear that! I live on a 160 farm, my nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away. I drive an old '87 Ram around here and it has been done by me and some good people on the boards, I'm talking 'bout the exhaust.
as a matter of fact, I do everything myself (except drive by the law.LOL) Anyhow, it sounds like you have everything under control out that way. TTYL. R.V.

I dont think the cops would really know what to look for, unless you knew every vehicle out there and if it had emissions on it or not, you would never catch any one. With newer vehicles, it is kind of obvious, but with my truck, you would never know, the bracket that my smog pump is on is gone now, it is totaly separate from anything else, and the only way you might notice is because i have one extra spot on my main pulley.
