Default 1990 Ram ignition Cly Removal

Howdy, Dad lost his ignition key on a 1990 250 Ram with the Cummins. Can't get one through Dodge, so how do you remove the cylinder on this rig.
Thanks

have you called a lock smith and see if they are able to make you up a key? i don't know if you are able to replace the cylinder without the key. if you do find the key you may want to get a spare or 2 cut and keep them where they will not be lost.

You don't need the key to get the ign cylinder out as a matter of fact the FSM specifically states to do it without the key in the ignition.

With the steering wheel off, the turn-signal switch out, insert a small thin pick or screwdriver into the slot next to the switch attaching screw boss (on the right) then press down on the spring latch at the bottom of the slot, that will release the lock cylinder.

You can buy new ignition cylinders but the keys will no longer match the doors but a good lock smith might be able to make you door cylinders match you ign cylinder.

Besides...a locksmith can't make a new key unless he has the old lock cylinder and even then i is hit or miss depending on how worn out the cylinder is.

If you pull the ignition cylinder and a door cylinder a locksmith can give you a key that will work just like the original in all of the locks.
