Default Adding AC

The day before yesterday was the hottest day in 29 years here in Iowa. Need AC in a bad way. I have a lead on a heater box with ac out of a '90 w150. Any reason It wouldnt work in my '78? I already have a compressor with brackets, condensor and lines. I was looking into an underdash evaporator/blower unit like the ones that the dealers put in new cars in the 60's. That was until I came across the parts truck on craigslist. I would like to use a factory box. Any experience out there? Thanks from a guy in a 120 degree dodge.
Scooter.

The heat/AC boxes in early models split front and back while the later models have a top and bottom. I do not believe very much will line up, as far as outlets and inlets or mounting flanges, on the different style boxes.

I have no problem doing some custom duct work to make it happen. My biggest hope for this is that the box itself will be in the ballpark of fitting under there. There is plenty of room under the dash, Im just worried about the firewall portion. Anybody have pics of thier heater box under the hood, so I can compare it to what my box looks like poking through? Similar holes in the firewall? Maybe a pic of what it looks like from the floorboard area? Thanks guys. SEAL, I think I am following you as for as "split top and bottom" being as I have floor heat and defrost only. How is the later design split up? Dash vents, floor and defrost?

I was talking about the construction of the heater box itself not about how the air is diverted.

sls001-
Dang! Its a shame he is out in Colorado. I just moved to Iowa from there. Coulda just drove down there. Moparts sounds like my kinda place. Thanks for the heads up. If the box Im looking at wont work, I might have to give him a call and bite the bullet on the shipping costs.

tooltime-
Not sure if the Vintage Air unit would work or not. If its the underdash unit, I think it would, Im just too cheap to go that route. Lol. When I can pry my wallet open far enough to sneak it out, Ill probably spend the cash on the in-dash V.A. kit for my old Mustang.

SEAL-
Didnt know that... Never had to pull one apart before.
