Default Check Engine Light ( I screwed up )

1996 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 L , 99,000 miles, I just purchased this beauty about a month ago. Strong runner, but was advised by the Original owner that the Spark plugs were original. Replaced them today everyone was a bear to get out but I removed them with nothing breaking or being stripped, they were the original Champs and the gap was way wide but all looked to be normal in color and no deposits. Replaced with Bosch Platinum II's using anti seize they went in a lot easier then the removal. Started it up and something did not appear right as it seemed to be running rough, went for a short ride and it became apparent something wasn't right, stumble on acceleration and backfiring and then the check engine light came on. I found the problem somehow I reversed # 1 and # 3 plug wires. Now it runs great but I still have the check engine light so the question is how do I reset it.

Thanks from a newbie

Most parts stores will read the codes and clear them for you at no charge or you can disconnect the battery. Disconnecting the battery will result in slightly decreased performance until the computer relearns certain information.

For future reference you may want to post in the 2nd Gen forum.
