Speedo doesn't work

you could try unscrewing the speed sensor from the t case and hook a drill to it so see if you speedo works. for some reason lots of people have the actual speedo mechanism go bad.

To answer the question. Take your info to a dealer and they will give you the proper part. The info needed is tire size, tranny, T-case, and rear gearing ratio. Unless you are sure your truck is totally stock this is an inexpensive way to get the right gear for an accurate speedo reading.

Second po9int, The PO did do that as in he put a drill motor on the cable and it made the speedo work. I think he even told me he looked in the t case and saw the teeth on the gear worn down. So, I guess it isn't the speedometer itself.
It takes all of five minutes to pull the gear. Pull it out and look at it. You can drive it if needed without the gear in it as long as you put the outside back together. The weather is good, don't wait. JMO
