I know this has been asked 1000 times but im putting a 360 in place of my old 318. I read i could use the torque converter if i purchased weights.Do the weights go on the torque converter or the flex plate. I ask because the 360 i have has a flex plate but no torque converter. Can I just use that flexplate and the 318 torque converter and not have to get weights.
Weld them on the flex plate. If you put them on the torque converter, you have to somehow mark the torque converter so it gets installed correctly and the same every time. The flex plate should only bolt on one way. The weights are to balance the rotating assembly inside the engine.
The converters should be the same, it's the flex plate that would be different. I don't know that you would be able to feel the vibration.
The weights are on the converter not the flex plate in the case of a 360!
The vibration might not be like a tire vibration that you could feel it but your engine and trans will. I have been in some that were similar to a tire imbalance where the entire truck shook at certain RPM's.
Depending on the imbalance; front pump bushing in the transmission prematurely failure, excessive main bearing\thrust bearing wear\failure.
The B&M 360 flex plate is the simplest answer.

Eh, sorry. It's been quite a few years since I owned a mopar v8. Is the bolt pattern on the 360 torque converter non-symmetrical? I honestly can't remember.
