Default No Fire, Please Help

I have a 1986 dodge D350 1 ton, with 360 gasoline engine.

The problem I initially had was, my truck would not get spark until the key was released IE you could crank it forever and it would not start, you have to periodically release the key and sometimes it would fire right up, once running it ran fine.

Now my issue is, im not getting fire... anywhere checked coil, no fire plug wires with engine cranking, no fire ect ect.

here is a list of things I have replaced chasing this problem,

Ignition Module
Distributor
Coil
Ballast Resister
Starter Relay
Plugs
Wires
Distributor Cap
Rotor Button
Ignition

Perhaps there is something I am missing, but this thing has me ready to pull my hair out and take it to the crusher, I REALLY would rather not any help would be greatly greatly appreciated, My thanks in advance.

if you replaced all that then i would guess your problem is in the wiring. sounds like you need to start testing the wires in the igniting system. could also check your ground connections.

1. Do you have a single pickup distributer or a dual pickup?
2. Was the replacement distributer new or used?
3. Were both distributers the same?
4. Do you have any power at the resistor? If so what voltage when the key is in run and start positions?

With a dual pickup one is used only during starting and the other is only used during running. This sure sounds like a bad start pickup in the distributor or the circuit that feeds that pickup coil. When the start coil is not working the engine may or may not start dependent on when in the ignition cycle the operator moves the ignition key from start to run. This is a split second move that cannot be timed by a human. The circuit includes the ignition switch.

You will need a volt meter to check the voltage/resistance in the start coil and its associated wiring.

Thank you for the Assistance i found the problem. The electronic ignition was bad. Mind you it was brand new, put the old one back on and was under the hood with the coil wire unhooked from the dist it shocked the crap out of me, oddly enough it was a relief. The dual pick up relay solved my no fire while cranking issue.
