Default battery light mystery - help

I have developed a strange issue on my Ram50 truck. My battery light came on and wouldn't go off even after taking the key out. Finally the battery went dead. I replaced the battery and have been driving it but when I start the car the battery light comes on. If I rev the engine or step on the break the light gets brighter. If I just drive the light almost goes out. I have been driving it like this for almost 2 months but I know I will soon be in trouble. Any ideas what is going on?

have you checked your charging system? it could be not charging to its fullest potential and slowly draining the battery.

No, I am not sure how to do that. What puzzles me is the battery light stays on after I turn the engine off and remove the key.

Sounds like u have a short in the altenator, or somewhere in the wiring system.
Novablue, if it were me, I would start at the starter and work my way up to the battery
and then the altenator. Oh, be sure you check your fusable links etc...
What year is your truck? What motor does it have in it? Thanx....R.V.
