Default timing?????

So i had to change the timing chain on my truck, its an 81 ram 4x4 with a 360, how the heck do i set my timing? The timing marks that are on the chain cover are covered up by the power steering pump. How exactly am i supposed to set my timing. Thank you in advanced.

I am not saying it is easy but people have been setting the timing on 1st Gens for 20-40 years, so it can be done. There are narrow channels there to aim the light and see the marks if your truck is stock. If something has been added that is in the way you may have to move whatever that is. If the power steering pump is totally blocking it maybe you will have to adjust it out of the way, set the timing, and retighten the pump, but that is not usually needed.
