Headlight Issues
I have a 1983 Dodge W150, and am currently having a ton of issues. Recently I replaced the starter motor, which fell prone to a completely roasted clutch and a bad solenoid. When I was replacing the part I left the battery connected, which lead to me accidentally touching my wrench to a live wire and the chassis, drawing a spark. Now the head lights wont come on. I applied voltage to the lights themselves, and both bulbs are fine. I visually inspected the fuses, and they all seem intact. That leaves me with either a faulty switch inside the cab or a burned fusible link. Can anyone tell me where the fusible links for the headlights can be found? Does anyone know what each block of the fuse panel goes to? Thanks.
does anything other than the headlights not work? the fusible links on these trucks are located on the drivers side fender
after doing a bit of looking at wiring diagrams it looks like the grey 18 gauge fusible link connects to a red wire that might have a white stripe powers the headlight.

i am just pretty sure other things like dash lights and running lights are also powered by the same fusible link. if the dash lights and stuff work i am pretty sure the fusible link may be fine but you could have another problem. how old is the dimmer switch. those are prone to failure and can cause the headlights to completely quit working.
I would imagine the dimmer switch is as old as the vehicle itself. By dash lights you mean the lights behind the gauge cluster? Those may be out too. Is the dimmer switch the **** that you physically pull to turn the lights on? I thought I had read that it was something to do with the turn signal, but that could be completely off base.
By dash lights i mean the lights behind the gauge cluster. on older trucks the dimmer switch is the round thing on the floor that kind of looks out of place. it controls whether the low or high beams are on. the switch that you pull or turn just turns the lights on and controls how bright the dash lights are.
this is what a dimmer switch looks like.
