Default what is the best repair manual out there?

i need a manual that gives the best detail for an engine overhaul. im doing head gaskets. haynes? chiltons? what is the best?

from what i have been told factory service manuals are about the best.

Go to Ebay and look around. You can pick one up for a little more than a Chilton's but it has everything the dealer would have used for info and very detailed with lots of pics. Chiltons usually show a pic from a group of years that may or may not be your model. It's worth a few bucks more.

i ordered a haynes manual off of half.com(ebays book store) for 7$ including shipping. but it wont be here in time for me to use it when i do the head gaskets. imm finally getting some warm weather and i plan to do the work in one day. what all goes into doing them?

been driving/working on chryslers since 1965. the best manual for a chrysler is a chrysler manual. PERIOD! how ever some other brands may have short cuts, ect.

If the Haynes and Chiltons manuals of today were put together they would be a sorry excuse for a repair manual.
I miss the old Motors manuals.

I second the factory service manual. I got a reproduction copy on a CD through ebay for around $15. It's nice because it comes as a PDF so you can search through it
