2nd gen seat swap
Recently came across a deal I couldn't pass up I found front seats from a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT for $100. only thing wrong was the tear in the driver seat cover. Went to my local metal supplier and bought $30 worth of 11 gauge 1'' square tubing spent 2 hours with my welder and chopsaw and here is the result. I used the stock rails and made a frame then bolted and welded the seats to the frame and rails. Just bought some fitted seat covers off ebay and I'm happy how it turned out. There's really no adjustment in the seat, but I'm 6'2'' and i have the same amount of leg room as i had with the bench. It does sit about an inch and a half higher than the stock seat but there's enough tilt in the steering wheel to compensate for the height difference.

I've seen a couple of guys mount bucket seats on a bench frame and slider. Show us some pics of how you did it and attached the seats. This is a project I'd like to do someday.
Here's one that I really liked. It's on reply#82.

This is what i based my plans off of, its step by step http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/d...h-t276849.html
The hardest part of it all is finding a good drivers seat. I modified the plans because my lever for the seat adjustment is in the front.

Nice job. Do you have a single cab or extended cab? The bench seat on my 90 D-150 single cab isnt even all the way back and the back of the seat sits bolt upright. I'm just wondering if there were any problems with the seat back being too vertical.
I have a single cab D-250. I actually didn't think about how vertical the seats may be until i had everything bolted in and all i needed to do is move the seat forward just a little bit more and it seemed to fix being too vertical. Their is a little less leg room but it evens out with the small height difference in the seat.
Cameron-
I too read the same thread that you linked. That is going to be the basis of my seat swap as well. I bought my seats a few weeks ago, I just havent had time to swap them in. What worked for you, and what would you do differently if you had to do it over? I plan on making mine adjustable. My wife drives my truck occasionally, and she is a solid foot shorter than me.

I have enough adjustment forward that my knees hit the steering column but can only go back so far without starting to get vertical. If i had to do it over i would definitely make a dummy frame to make sure all my holes will be perfect and the bars on the frame are in the exact spot you need I ended up doing more welding than I need to do. The design that guy has is perfect you just need to adjust it to your mounting points. I'm not sure if its a good idea but what i ended up doing is tapping the original 2nd gen seat mounting holes to 5/16-18 NC then i used 2'' grade 8 bolts. If you can get 2'' bolts of the OE size and pitch I would go with that i just had spare hardware from a previous project that i decided to burn through.
