Default Need Info on '76 W-100 Front Axle

I'm hoping that someone here can help me. I did try to search but nothing came up. I have a 1976 W-100 that had the Dana 44FBJ full-time front axle under it. I replaced it with a part-time axle out of a '79 W-150 a while back. I am having problems with the shaft splines and am looking for something better. What I need to know is: How new (year wise) of an axle can I put under it and it just bolt right in? I'm looking to stay with a '44 but I need something newer and maybe a little beefier and I gotta stay as inexpensive as I can.

Thanks for any help that y'all can give me.

I'm putting 91 axles on my 76 RC. Up to 93 at least should bolt right in. Here's an article on doing D44 front axle swaps. Hope this helps.

Pretty much what SixGun said covers it, but as long as its a solid axle, dodge d44, you should be good. By the way: You have any pictures?

Nope, sorry, no photos. It's a beat up old work truck I use mostly in the woods. I've had it a little over 16 years and hope to restore it someday, but it is what I bought it for. I use it in the woods and have never worried about scratching or denting it. It runs good but I have had problems with the bearings in the old full-time axle since I got it, that's why I went to the part-time axle with the adjustable bearings. I haven't replaced the TC so I just leave the hubs locked in. It's worked for me for the last 5-6 years. Thank y'all for the responses.
