i have been going pretty relay crazy lately. one of the stock backup lights on my ramcharger is on a relay with my axillary lights and it is noticeably brighter.

Isn't that as simple as ruining the stock hot to the trigger for the relay, then the battery hot to the switched hot? Like with a Bosch 5 pin relay?

OP is it a regular cab? Why haven't you put a picture of it up?

My '93 has 255000 miles on it, has no electrical issues, and pulls like a freight train (it's slightly modified). I plan to take care of it and own it the rest of my life. I love how easy it is to work on, and parts are cheap (compared to other/newer diesels). I bet you did good for $3500.

A couple tips for starters. 1) Run 1 oz. of 2-stroke oil in your fuel per gallon. this will greatly increase the life of your injection pump and injectors. 2) Don't lug that Getrag and it will last a long time.

Have fun!

you just jinxed yourself. better knock on wood. give it enough time and you will find the basic electrical problems that these trucks develop. them fusible links or head light switch plugs that like to melt. i think the trucks with a/c also tend to have the heater fuse melt.

Okay I overlooked a few things. The bottom three fan speeds work, but the fastest one doesn't. And sometimes you gotta play with the switch. Also, the fuel gauge just stopped working a few weeks ago. The headlights will go on relays soon though. I guess I am just so used to driving old dodge trucks that those issues aren't even noticeable to me hahaha.

lol. i guess if you know how to hot wire thing you are good to go but not everyone knows how to do that yet. i personally like upgrading things so that i don't have to worry about them. i know my electrical system fairly good after all the upgrades i have done and problems i have helped people solve.

Thanks for the tip... the oil in the fuel is an interesting idea... I will look into that for sure... I certainly dont even want to get rid of this truck... it took me forever to find it... I have been looking for about 8 years for this exact one: cummins 4x4 with a 5 speed... they are hard to come by when they haven't been worked to death.
I posted a pic on my garage of the new truck... its not the best shot, but my good one wouldn't upload???

As I recently learned, in order to post better pictures, you need to upload your pictures to a picture host like photobucket and then post it in here as a link. Thats how you get the larger sized/better quality pictures posted. I cant wait to see her!

Alright, due to popular demand... lol, I have added some pics to photo bucket.
I got some all around shots and interior.

Interior is really nice, likely will get a carpet kit and leave it as is. And like I said before, I have 2 new doors and 2 fenders in the shop... also have a new tailgate.. Hood is mint, and so is the box apart from the wheel arches.

You will notice the yellow paint... I was assessing how much rust was there, and cut out anything that was punky... actually much better than I expected. I put the yellow on just to keep it from rusting further in the snow.
Im going to pick up a couple of the small patch panels and cut them down so I can just put the arches in, there is really no rust past the lip, so I dont need much new steel.

Mechanically looks really good, but there is some heavy shaking when I accelerate, and it tapers off above 50 MPH, so I think I have a bad rear u-joint, or possibly the sliding joint on the drive shaft... hoping not the carrier bearing... smooth when in neutral, so not in the wheels.

Im making a parts run to the states in about 5 weeks, so Im going to load up on the mechanicals. Im going to do all the u-joints and steering linkages, brakes and some brake lines, and leaving it at that... should be ready to drive by spring!

Hope you like the pics... certainly the truck has potential... excellent platform to start from. Let me know if the links dont work!
