Default Transmission

I have a 2001 Ram 5.2L 4x4. I cant find anywhere what transmission I have. I have looked at the info plate on the door and under the hood. I could not find what transmission is in my truck. Does anyone know how I can find out which one I have?

you may get more help if you posted in the 2nd gen section.

now i would guess if you call up a dealer and gave them the last 8 digits of your vin they would be able to tell you what transmission you have. you most likely have a 46RE. might be a sticker under the hood that should tell you everything about your truck.

Assuming you have an auto, I would almost be certain that you have a 46RE, as wolfie stated. If its a standard, you have either a NV3500 (aluminum case, casted non-removable bellhousing) or a NV4500 (cast iron case, bolt-on removable bellhousing) Now that I think of it... They may not have put NV3500's in full size trucks. Maybe just Dakotas. The guys over in the second gen section will be able to tell you for sure. Maybe a mod can slide this thread over there?
