180 amp? i don't think i have ever heard of one of those on a stock setup. you can get a 120 amp alternator from rock auto if you don't already have one. i know mean green has one listed for the 90-91 ram but the picture they have shows a serpentine belt instead of a v-belt pulley. might be able to contact mean green but then again the $200-$300 more for there 200amp alternator may not be that great of a deal unless you need the extra power. you could a 120amp alternator from rockauto for $100-$200.

yeah, the Diplomat, and Sebring / Satalite cars that went to the cops had either a 180a or 240a alternator. SUPPOSEDLY my buddy knows where to get these but he has yet to tell me LOL! I only need it for the radios (ham radios) and amps I am installing.

There were no factory alternators on the police equipped cars over 120 amps and the factory parts manuals only show those on the last years of the Diplomat\Gran Fury (87-89) prior to that they were smaller.

Now whomever equipped the vehicles with their lights, radio's, etc may have installed an aftermarket hi-amp alt or dual alt's; they never came from the factory.

That may be the case but the one he has out of a Diplomat in his van is rated at 180a.

maybe you should get him to get some pictures of this 180 amp alternator. i don't think i have seen a 180 amp alternator on any dodge vehicle. i think even the new trucks only have a 160amp alternator.
