Default The Mystery of the Disappearing ATF +4.

Drove the 250 around today for a bit. Checked the transmission fluid before leaving home. Stick is dry. Put in a quart, still a bit low. Drove about fifteen miles and checked. Stick dry, put in another quart. Drove home. Driveway is dry, no spotting, bottom of tranny is clean.

What happened to the fluid?

My theories:

1) Bad rear seal. The transmission only leaks while the vehicle is in motion (the back is way higher than the front, so the fluid sits forward while the truck is parked). Con: no evidence of fluid at the rear of the tranny.

2) Front seal leaks. Fluid is pooling in the bell housing. Con: I cannot believe that this would not leak all over.

3) The transmission is resistentialistic.* It hates me and all other humans, and is in open rebellion against its devil slavemasters.

Anybody got any ideas?

* "Resistentialism" is when inanimate objects seemingly display malevolent behavior towards people.

I would lean to a bad rear seal. Mine did that for a while, then let loose in the driveway...
