brightest reverse bulbs?
they are just some cheap offroad lights that i picked up at princess auto on sale. they are definitely a bit stronger than the really cheap lights i use to have.

I had some similar to those on my other camper shell. I put them on the back of it for back up lights. It was excellent, they only had 35w bulbs in them and after removing the stock BU bulbs, they never got the wiring hot even if left on for long periods of time to set up camp at night. They also worked great where placed, near the top of the camper shining at an angle. From inside the cab, I could see behind me like it was daylight, and when behind the camera, it was like there were a couple bright porch lights on. I have tried to find the exactl same lights, but can't find them anymore.
I have never been a real fan of HID kits for stock housings. They weren't designed for the heat generated by an HID bulb, or the length of the bulb as the bright point on an HID bulb is further forward than that of an incandescent bulb. As a result, the reflector on a stock housing is inappropriate (inefficient) for it. Usually that is! I am not after total brightness per se' just more light and a better pattern than the stock wimpy 3w lamp in the tiny housing with a cheap reflector that isn't even chrome or polished.
Shoot, that is great news so my 35w will work without a relay. I just don't want to run a hot wire all the way back there, but I might anyway since the headlight relay thing worked so damn well for me!
well if you got a 7 pin trailer connector to the possibly run power to that if it don't already have one and then run a smaller line to the relay. my 81 and 93 are wired a bit differently. 93 has a constant power wire running to the relay that hides behind the tail light. my 81 has a relay in my power distribution center under the hood. i ran a activator wire from the neutral safety switch to the power distribution center to turn the relay on and then ran a wire from the relay to the new backup lights and then ran small gauge wire to the stock ones.

well sometimes trucks are already setup for electric trailer brakes and if so there is usually a constant power wire which should have been heavy enough to power what you would need but if you got a power wire run pack there for a camper shell that would also work.
Oh ok, Yes, my truck is set up for a trailer brake and has the 6 or 7 pin round connection.
