timing help please

Default timing help please

hey fellas I have a 1989 w150 ,I unplug the coolant temp sensor to set timing and when I plug it in it revs up and down then dies ,if I keep it unplugged it runs ok ,the sensor is new .....any help would be greatly appreciated

After you set the timing you are to shut the engine down then reconnect the CTS. You unplug it running.

Make certain you set the timing with the engine fully warmed up.

ok thanks, I think the timing is good now but I think I have another problem because when it comes up to temp the rpm's surge (at idle or even if I hold it half throttle) then itll die after a min ,the tps is new and o2 sensor was replace about 6 months ago but im wounder about it because I had a manifold leak on that side maybe burnt it up ,but I fixed the leak now
