What was the year they switched from the steel door panels to the plastic ones?

Good question. I would take a guess and say 1960. lol


What year truck do you have? My 76 has a is solid at the bottom, with a plastic panel at the top.

My truck is an '85 and the stock plastic ones were sunbaked. I got a set of steel door panels off of another truck from the junk yard, I don't think it was that old though, I think it was from the 70's.

This is the steel door panel I got from the J/U:

That doesn't look familiar at all. Might be from a '72 or earlier.

Hmm... I know my '78 has plastic, as did the '72 I pulled parts from a while back.
