Default 1991 W150 Engine Installation

I recently had my engine rebuilt.

When I pulled the engine out, I pulled it with the bell housing attached but left the transmission in. I had the engine rebuilt, flywheel refinished, and got a new clutch kit. After fiddling with the engine a bit on the host, I was able to get the engine bolted up the transmission. I guess I installed the slave cylinder wrong because when we pumped the clutch, it fell into the bellhousing. So I had to pull the engine and pull the engine.

It’s been a few weeks but I got back to working on it. For some reason, even though everything looks perfectly lined up, I can’t get the transmission output shaft to seat all the way. It’s still about 1.5 inches out.
The only things that have changed from the first time (when I was able to get it to go in) are:
  • Removed the flywheel, clutch & pressure plate and reinstalled
  • Changed Pilot bearing

I was looking for any ideas or just general suggestions. Maybe something I’m missing because right now I’m just completely lost. Thanks for looking

Yup that's what I ended up having to do. Had to change it to a roller bearing type rather than the bronze sleeve type.
