Default engine rebuild new part questions

hey guys so my oil control rings are shot and trucks leaking like a bitch. so engine has to be pulled and taken apart so i figure while its out i want to build the lower half but want to do it right with the right parts i want more power what should i get. the main things i want to get it a cam and heads.

my motor is a 400 big block with edelbrock 4brrl and edelbrock torker manifold the rest was rebuilt not even 10000km ago but was rebuilt along time ago.

what else should i get if anyone can help me with links to the parts that i would need that would be awesome.

i want it to sound more like this

I would start here:

http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/index.php

and here:

http://www.bouchillonperformance.com/

I don't personally have any recommendations on a 400 rebuild for power, but I'm sure someone on the boards knows and will chime in sooner or later.

HTH.

Do you want the truck for drag racing or useable power off-road? There is a difference...for off-road you want low end torque not high RPM horse power.

I would consider a stroker kit (451 is an excellent combo). And, as you've been told before; you have the wrong intake manifold for such a heavy vehicle.

In addition to the 2 links provided talk to: http://www.mrlperformance.com/ he has put together a good many torque monsters.

By the way, heads and cam are part of the motor's top end.

That big lumpy cammed sound is not going to come along with low end torque. It seems like you want to build a torquey truck motor, but everything you want to do to it is something that you would do to a 1/4 mile monster that is meant to run at 4-7k rpm for a few seconds at a time.

How about a few more details Turner, is this a 2 wheel drive truck or a 4 wheel drive truck that you have this 400 in? what kind of uses do you have planned? most probably if it was me I would use flat top pistons in it, some decent heads and then a cam based on where you want the power

If you buy a cam based on the sound, you'll have the wrong cam too.
