Default 85 dodge d150 cranks but wont start

I have an 85 dodge ram 150 pick up. It cranks, starts for about 2 seconds and dies. New alternator. Starter is good. Electrical seems good. Fuel in the carb. What could be causing this? Please help

im fixing my truck right now., but over the past month its been having a lot of starting problems and i think iv figured a lot of it out.. have you poored gas in the carb? i have done that a few times and it helps. double check that your fuel pump is working and that its pulling fuel.. then you can make sure the idle is set right.. if it dies like 2 seconds after you start it then your idle could be set way low and it just kills it. does it come up to idle right after you start it or die instantly?

then i would check to make sure your battery has enough power and your alternator is putting out the correct volts (about 14).. and if its a little low. i would replace the voltage regulator. that is what im doing on my truck right now and i think its going to fix the starting problem. get back to me if any of this stuff works. and just ask if it doesn't work and you need more help. i bet we can figure this out.

step 1: grab a buddy
step 2: take off the air cleaner and have him stare at the choke....or you can whoever wants to
step 3: one of you cranks the truck while the other watches the choke operation
its probably opening prematurely and that's what is causing it to just die... if its letting too much air in too quick it will choke itself out and die.

there should be a black box inside your left front fender well in the engine bay right behind the headlight, check all the connections in there... if some certain ones aren't connected then it wont run
