broke down for first time, wont start
I tried testing the fuel pressure, not getting anything. Not sure if the gauge hooked up good or not but just from pushing the valve its no where near 25 psi.
Tested the voltage at the ASD again and the fuel pump relay. Go voltage to both. Good grounds too. Couldnt check while trying to start though.
What is the distributer reference pickup? Manual points towards maybe something to do with that.
Would swapping computers help? I could swap the one from my other 92, its a manual but other than that its the same.
Also whats that high pitched noise from the engine when you turn the key to ON.
Im bout ready to tow it to the shop. Everything seems to point to something telling something to shut off. No fuel and no spark.

if your not getting fuel pressure at the fuel rail then that is most likely your issue. you may have a bad fuel pump or the fuel pump is not getting power. i think the fuel pump relay is the second one from the front on the fender. you could try powering terminal 87 with the fuel pressure gauge connected. if things are working properly i think it should build fuel pressure.

I'm gonna check the pressure on my other truck to get a comparison.
Would the cps keep the fuel pump from coming on ?
the fuel pump should kick on for a few seconds when you turn the key on. the computer may control the relay by grounding the relay but if you unplug the relay and apply power to terminal 87 you should be able to hear the fuel pump running if all is working properly. you don't need to ground anything.
Well I try jumping power to the fuel pump relay. Couldnt tell. I cant hear the fuel pump, never have. Checked fuel pressure on my other truck. At rest its the same but when its running it sprays pretty good.
Swapped computers too. Still didnt work.
Did some continuity checks and seemed fine.
Lets say the fuel pump did go bad, would that stop spark too?

Changed the CPS. Started up great. Props to wombat ranger for helping
But now I got another problem. My crankshaft walk has now gotten bad enough to cause a strange noise when in gear and also even when revving it in park.
I got to decide now to rebuild the 318 or go with a 360. Either way Im on a tight budget
