I've seen some videos where they cut the filters open in front of the camera. I'm not a fan of what I saw with the frams, and it explained why I've had inconsistent oil pressure with them.

I've actually been using motorcraft FL-1A filters. They are massive, and from what I've seen, are comparable to the wix in construction. There is enough room for one in a truck or van, but I'm not sure if you could stuff one in a car. I know I'd trust an OEM (even if its not "our" OEM) product over the "always on sale" aftermarket companies. Sadly, the mopar unit is tiny and expensive . . . nothing wrong with it, but the motorcraft part just seems like a superior part for a lesser price.

I use the big filters on my 87 D 100 & 96 1500 but they won't fit on the 87 5th ave.
All have the 318 motor.

Wait, FL-1A, as in the same filter I threw on my old Mustang, F-150ect... that costs 1/3 of the dodge filter? If that's the case, Ill never buy another Dodge filter again.
