Default need 4x4 help

I have a 1985 dodge power ram tht has vacume controlled 4x4. I dont want tht. I was told by a guy tht i can remove the actuator and block off the hole. Then remove the two piece axle shaft and put a one piece axle shaft in it and put lock outs on and it wil work like a non vacume axle. Is tht true?

It is even easier to lock the CAD actuator in the locked position and then install manual locking hubs.

Yes you can remove the fork and install a 1 piece axle and install manual hubs.

Agreed.
Im doing the same thing right now. You can actually use your same shift fork in your actuator. Just remove it, and reinstall it backwards. It will hold the connecting collar in the "lock" position. Also, if you like Warn products... (who doesn't?) your part number is 20990 for the premium hubs.

Thnk u guys. I have been reading stuff tht says u cant do it because the non vacuum axle needs a seal by the carrier that the vacuum axle is not made for but it never said a year range. The reason i wanna put the one piece shaft in is cuz i read its stronger than the two piece. Do i need a non vacuum transfer case to run the non vacuum axle? My case has vacuum lines going to it and idk if it,will wotk properly if the r not hooked up?
