Default Tail light wiring

I just bought a 87 250, and the wiring is a mess. I have all functions on the left tail light, but the right doesnt work for brake, or turn signal. It only lights up when the lights are turned on, and the reverse light works. I have changed the light bulb, and applied 12v to all the wires to prove that all the light functions do work... I followed the wire (brown with green stripe) that controls the brake and signal light all the way under the hood where it has a plug. After that it goes into a big mess of wires. Is there a relay that controls that one light? or is there something else I should look for?

Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like you might have a bad turn signal switch. Both the stop lamps and turn signals run through the switch.

Look at the diagram I posted and you will see that wires D7 and D8 go to the rear lighting. you can test at the turn signal switch connector on the steering column for voltage when you activate your turn signals.
