Default D100 Resto and Lean Burn Removal??

Hi folks,
I am in the middle of restoring an 87 D100 w/318. I have removed the lean burn system and Im ready to install a standard Mopar Electronic ignition system. I have two questions for anyone who has experience with this

#1 My trans is a three speed auto (904 style) with a lock up converter ( overdrive fake 4th gear). I belive the old lean burn system was in charge of sending a signal to the trans to lock or unlock the torque convereter. How can I duplicate this signal now that the lean burn is gone?

#2. Ignition- I am getting conflicting instructions on how to install the electronic ignition system. One says...to loactae and identify your starter relay. If there is no wire connected to the BAL plug ( which runs to the ballast resist) you need to put one in and run it to the Ballist resist. This creates a RBW Resistor Bypass Wire
The other instructions say that if you dont have a wire in the relay connected to the BAL terminal you dont need one.

Im confused as to which way to go. Help appreciated
