I have never heard of the IM, but your voltage regulator is in the computer or ECM.

I was referring to the Ignition Module or computer if you like.Is their any way around buying a new computer. The truck runs good but it shows the alternator is only feeding the battery 12.5v on the truck, off the truck 14.5v

Not sure what "on and off the truck" means, but here is a kit so you don't have to replace the computer.

Simply wire in an external voltage regulator. Simply and cheap.

ECM - runs your fuel injection
Ignition Module - controls spark
