Transmission Woes
My transmission in my '89 W100 is still acting funny. We have had some crazy weather here and I have noticed something. I drive 6 miles one way to work. When it was 90 plus outside my transmission shifted bad and would take 4 to 5 seconds to shift into reverse when I got to work. When I first get in it to go to work it works fine. Once it warms up though it goes all to hell. Lately it has been much cooler sometimes into the 60's when I am driving home from work in the morning. When it is cooler the transmission shifts normal even into reverse. Could the temperature outside be affecting the temperature of the transmission? Also I flushed the system and the manual shows the system holds 8 quarts of fluid. With the supply line unhooked from the cooler and a hose attached to the outlet shouldn't it pump out nearly all of the 8 quarts? It is only pumping out 4 quarts.
You can probably tell that I really hope I don't have a bad transmission. Is it possible that my cooler isn't working properly and the fluid is getting too hot? I find it odd that when it is cool outside I am not experiencing the problems. I'm really hoping for some good news.
