Default 318 timing problems

Anyone have problems with the timing marks lining up for a 79 power wagon. The maker line up 180 out to fire. Cannot correct it with the distributor it will not start. Anyone know if dodge something different for that year. Because the books way does not work. Did they make both side. I haven't takin the cam gear or cank gear off

Did you ever have the distributor off? It can go back in two ways, and is very easy to get it in backwards (I have way too much experience with that!). Maybe double check that the plug wires in the distributor are in the corect orde. There were some small blocks that you timed off the passenger side, but I think that was early '70's?

X's 2. The distributor can only go in correctly or 180 degrees out.

when the cam timing gears are set right, I.E. dot on small gear and dot on big gear facing each other. the distributer rotor will be on #6. the book does NOT say any thing about where the dist rotor is facing.

X 3! pull your distributor out. The bottom looks like a flat head screw driver. Rotate it 180 degrees and re install.
