Steering Column & ignition switch
It seems like the steering wheel needs to be removed to pull the steering column cover off for my 1986 W250. Am I correct? I need to replace the ignition switch.
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jake

in your other post, are you sure your looking in the right place? cuz ive even typed it into google and several auto parts stores websited and they all look like the one I attached to the other post
Yes, I replaced the ignition switch yesterday, and we found that the new one is bad too. The actual switch is in the steering column. The key switch is in front of the ignition switch in the steering column. I am using a jumper cable from the ballast resistor to the battery to drive the beast....
so the lock cylinder is shot? is tht what your saying cuz ive got no idea what your talking about... ove got an 87 and theres no "switch" in the column itself its just the lock cylinder and connecting rod that goes down to the switch at the base of the column.. if you can post a picture that would help a lot
